About the role

As our Principal Emergency Planning Officer you will join a small corporate team, planning and preparing to ensure that the County Council can respond effectively to major emergencies and business disruptions, discharging it's functions under the Civil Contingencies Act.

You will work with a range of partners to plan, prepare and practice how we will respond.


In the event of an incident occurring you will play a vital operational role leading aspects of the response, supporting the management of the incident, and enabling recovery and restoration following the event.

What will you be doing?
The Principal Emergency Planning Officer will

  • Deputise for the Head of Emergency Planning as required
  • Support the Director of Strategy and Partnerships and Head of Emergency Planning to deliver the emergency planning agenda
  • Provide oversight and guidance in project management and delivery
  • Support and develop the team and it's operational processes
  • Provide professional direction and advice across the organisation
