Job objectives and responsibilities

  • The role reports to the Finance Business Partner and the Head of Finance & Commercial in the IFM centre on the Rolls-Royce contract.
  • The role is responsible for the day to day ownership of the management and commercial accounts function for IFM Centre on the Rolls-Royce contract. With a turnover and billing responsibility for c£60m per annum. The role will be responsible for maintaining and developing a strong control and reporting environment. Ensuring clear, incisive analysis is produced to support multiple stakeholders is key. Balance sheet control and business partnering will play a vital part of the role along with supporting all Mitie services lines on the Rolls-Royce contract.
  • The role also has the benefit of having exposure and direct contact with the end client.

Main duties

  • Manage the production of the monthly management accounts, forecasts and budgets and prepare all necessary analysis and associated commentaries.
  • The transactional element of this activity is based offshore. The role will therefore be required to engage with the offshore team and ensure the contract receives a quality and efficient service.
  • With seven indirect Mitie businesses providing services through this central team, the role holder will be required to hold reviews, liaise and manage the growth of each business through performance reviews and variance analysis providing commentary to senior management.
  • Provide support to the rest of the contract operations team as required relating to specific adhoc requests or regular reporting development.
  • Managing the Management Accountant. Ensuring process efficiencies are identified and ensuring the accuracy of the contract billing.
  • Ownership and development of all client reporting.
  • Using raw data, investigate opportunities to change and influence the operational processes to benefit the P&L, working capital, client reporting or internal reporting.
  • The role will require the development of relationships with multiple stakeholders, including directly with the client, senior contract management, and operational management.
  • Provide support to the Head of Finance and Commercial in relation to the business planning cycle, client reporting requests and other financial information.
  • Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close.
  • Manage working capital process with specific focus on debt.
  • Completion and ownership of balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Use of professional accounting concepts and internal company policies to solve complex accounting issues including the maintenance of internal controls.

Qualifications

  • Prerably Qualified CIMA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent (or at final stage of professional exams)
  • Strong analytical mind
  • Experience of working with and processing large data sets to produce summarised management reports
  • Advanced excel with ability to both maintain, develop and build financial models
  • Good presentation and communications skills
  • Excellent report writing skills
  • Computer literate with Microsoft Office suite and other financial database packages
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to build and maintain relationships
  • Ability to multitask, work under pressure and meet deadlines required
