PR and Marketing Officer

Location:
Newport (hybrid working 2 days from home 3 days office after completion of probation)


Salary:
£32,310 per annum


Contract type:
Full-time, permanent

Benefits: 28 days' holiday including BH, rising by 1 per year to 33 days at 5 years' service, plus birthday off, and 4% employer contribution pension


Our client is a third sector group that offers a range of recycling, refuse and education services in South Wales.

They are an environmental organisation whose aims are to reduce the amount of material going to waste and to benefit the local communities of South Wales.

They currently run the kerbside as well as commercial recycling services to business across South East Wales.


Job role:

  • Attend local events and meetings to represent the company and its services e.g. WI, Uo3A, neighbourhood meetings
  • Attend local schools to help promote recycling and reuse in the classroom
  • To implement the Marketing Communications Plan for the group, working closely with Department Managers and the CEO to do this
  • To liaise with our contract Local Authority's PR department on all relevant communication
  • To monitor, develop and update our website
  • To develop and maintain our social media accounts, and oversee those run by other departments
  • To design and maintain company branding in written and digital form
  • To market the services of the group including reuse, recycling, education, repair
  • Produce written media for the group including leaflets, posters, banners, articles, newsletters (volunteer and staff)
  • Write and put our press releases as and when required
  • Create launch events for new projects, sites and shops, liaising with key staff and ensuring their effective management
  • Communicate with Councillors, politicians and other VIPs
  • Communicate with media; TV, Radio and written print
  • To continue the development of our education room, including liaising with third party designers
  • To ensure our marketing and communications are bilingual and meeting the requirements of the Welsh Language act
  • To report regularly to the Board and CEO
  • To carry out any other reasonable management requests

Other:

  • This position will require travel throughout South Wales, and will involve some evening and weekend working. A clean driving licence and access to a car is therefore essential

Skills and Experience:

  • Educated to degree level or above in PR, marketing or design
  • Experience of PR, marketing and/or design
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organisation skills
  • Good level of computer literacy and familiarity with Microsoft packages plus design software including InDesign
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Experience of website design and maintenance
  • Experience of PR and Marketing including producing press releases and liaising with local media
  • Experience of working as part of a team
  • Full clean driving licence and access to a vehicle
