Band 3 advert - Data Officer.


We are seeking a suitably qualified data officer to support the work carried out within the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at on the BVH site.


After undergoing training to use the Medicus IT system applicants will be able to extract and input intensive care data to support the work carried out by the Intensive Care National Audit Research Centre (ICNARC).

The post holder will have existing knowledge to access other patient information systems including, HISS, Maxims and Cyberlab.

Suitable applicants will maintain effective lines of communication with colleagues from nursing, medical and other allied health professionals. Applicants will be expected to work collaboratively alongside other data officers.

This is a full-time position applicants will be expected to work during core hours Monday to Friday.

The post holder is responsible for providing information to the Intensive Care National Audit Research Centre (ICNARC). ICNARC share the results to provide a valuable insight into the quality of adult, general and specialist critical care.

The post holder will be responsible for collecting and inputting data in real time, liaising with nursing and medical colleagues as well as colleagues within the ICNARC team.

The postholder will support the collection of annual National Cardiothorac Benchmarking Collaborative (NCBC) data.


The post holder is responsible for ensuing staff training on the use of the Medicus system and inputting data into the medicus and ICNARC data systems.

The post holder will be required to extract data for the NCBC and other audit programmes as well as providing key performance indicator information to the Intensive Care Network,

They are required to work as part of a team providing cross cover during periods of staff absence. Working with senior staff to ensure Trust wide and Divisional objectives are met.
