Job description:

As Head of the UK Shipping Concierge, you'll be responsible for improving and promoting the UK's maritime offer as part of growing the UK maritime economy, through leadership of the UK's Shipping Concierge, an entry point and ongoing interface for international maritime businesses who wish to do business with the UK.

This role is pivotal in shaping and promoting the UK's maritime offer both for those in international maritime businesses who wish to do business with the UK and for those sectors and activities that we wish to attract to the UK.

This is a high-profile role that is required to produce rapid results in the continued development and refinement of our maritime offer and to attract and engage with stakeholders to deliver new maritime business to the UK.

The objective is to grow the UK's maritime economy with increased jobs, investment and market share. The role will also drive growth within the UK's existing customer base.

This role will be based in the Southampton HQ.

MCA supports flexible working and operates a hybrid working model between home and office for this role, giving you greater flexibility over where and when you work.

Details of the arrangement will be discussed further with your line manager.

The role requires international travel as well as time spent in London. Therefore, a passport valid for international travel is required.

Responsibilities

Key accountabilities of the role include:

Deliver a competitive and marketable UK Maritime Offer

  • Drawing on market insight, intelligence, macroeconomic push and pull factors and Government ambition, develop and deliver a maritime offer that differentiates the UK from its nearest competitors, delivering a key component of the MCA's Great British Maritime Economy Programme.
  • Ensure the full delivery of benefits from recent and planned reforms to present a clear return on investment that demonstrates the economic benefits of reform and supports the case for further change to the UK's maritime offer.

Bring more maritime business to the UK

  • Develop a market insights strategy, along with a plan for delivery, that will target specific companies and sectors that are likely to base themselves in the UK and contribute to UK economic growth.
  • Implement and manage a system of 'rapidturnaround offers' to potential customers tailored to their company and operating model, presenting a compelling case to do business in the UK.

Keeping and going further with existing customers

  • Recognise the value of existing customers by building positive relationships, understanding their needs and providing a personal and highquality ongoing service.
