Our client is a well-respected clean technology company focussed on sustainable recycling solutions looking for a Maintenance Engineer, to be involved in all aspects of maintenance of the pilot plant, including the cleaning, operation and reporting of R&D testruns.

The role will have responsibility for electrical maintenance and installation aspects of the pilot plant.

Maintenance Engineer

  • Scheduling, planning and executing electrical / mechanical maintenance tasks
  • Scheduling, planning and executing feedstock trials
  • Monitoring and logging of data and communicating this with wider team
  • Writing test reports and collecting basic data to an agreed template for each feedstock trial
  • Responsible for operation and maintenance of thermal conversion pilot plant and wider facility, with a focus on electrical
  • Process, production and R&D engineers to deliver necessary adjustments and repairs to the pilot plant. Make regular checks of plant equipment and make adjustments, repairs, and service equipment as required
  • Housekeeping: keeping the pilot plant clean and in good conditions. Cleaning of equipment after use
  • Manage stocks of critical pasts of equipment for the pilot plant
  • Contact suppliers when required

Maintenance Engineer

Essential Skills:


  • Practical operation and maintenance experience
  • Electrical engineering skill base but with a grasp on mechanical and process engineering and ability to oversee external contractors to do this work
  • Excellent HSE knowledge
  • An experienced (preferably 4+ years) Engineer / Technician with prior onsite knowledge ideally having completed a recognized Engineering Apprenticeship / Training
  • A relevant technical qualification such as an HNC/NVQ/C&G or equivalent qualification in mechanical engineering and/or electrical installation
  • Up to date with the latest IEE Regulations
  • Previous experience with single and 3 phase installations, and PLC
  • Practical knowledge of process plant and equipment
