About the role:


Cuckoo's CEO, Paul Hellings, is looking for a super organised, people person to work alongside him as his Executive Assistant.

You'll join the flock and be part of a fast growing, fast paced start-up, whilst fulfilling a role with lots of variety.

You'll play a key role in ensuring Paul can work efficiently and smoothly, and will be involved in helping as he makes important decisions.

This is a unique role which involves lots of context switching, flexibility and a proactive approach.

You'll be part of the wider People and Talent team and will report into the Head of People and Talent.

This is a full time position working Monday-Friday over 37.5 hours. You will be based in our beautifully modern Head Office - Second Home in East London. The role will require occasional travel to Reading and Exeter.


The day-to-day:


You will be:


  • Working closely with the CEO and Head of People and Talent to improve and develop internal company communications
  • E.g meeting agendas, surveys and monthly newsletters
  • Effectively managing the CEO's diary and making sure meetings and appointments are uptodate and accurate
  • Anticipating the CEO's needs, and being sure they have the correct resources to carry out their daily requirements
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with the Cuckoo team, and key internal and external stakeholders
  • Helping with drafting the CEO's press interviews and statements to ensure they are well worded, accurate and informative
  • Involved in the monthly preparation of board papers
  • Coordinating arrangements for meetings, conferences, and other events both internally and externally. Ensuring the appropriate materials are available, and booking hospitality as required
  • Regular communication of business updates and news with the Cuckoo team, a variety of internal and external stakeholders, and service providers.
  • Collating information and key findings from events, surveys and meetings summarising and creating action plans

‍ What we're looking for:


  • Someone with a high level of empathy, able to put people at the centre of all your decisions.
  • An excellent level of organisation with a keen eye for detail and brilliant time management skills
  • An honest individual who can be trusted to maintain a high level of confidentiality in interactions and communications
  • A forward thinker who can anticipate the needs and requirements of the CEO and plan and deliver them accordingly
  • Someone who is selfdriven and can prioritise and manage their own workload in order to be effective and productive
  • A team player someone who recognises the impact they have on the business and is willing to get stuck in where and when they are needed
  • A strong communicator both written and verbally. This role will require a high level and high volume of effective and informative communication daily
  • Someone with previous experience of working within a similar role and carrying out similar daily responsibilities
  • Someone with strong IT skills and the ability to pick up new softwares and platforms that you may not be familiar with (we use Notion, Slack, Google Suite and Microsoft Office)

It would be awesome if you had experience in the following, but don't worry - it's not a deal breaker:

  • Previous experience of working in a start up/scale up environment
  • you'll appreciate that working in a startup is fast paced and all systems go, so experience of working in a similar environment would be great
