Description

The Special Assets Valuation & Credit Analysis Team (VCAT) lead for EMEA will lead a team of distressed credit professionals providing restructuring analysis and developing valuations of stressed and distressed situations for sale and for regulatory reportingpurposes.

The lead will not only oversee the team's work, but also contribute analysis for the team lead's own coverage portfolio as well.


Associated responsibilities will include the following:

Responsibilities:


  • Perform comprehensive fundamental analysis on distressed corporate client portfolio within Citi's Wholesale Credit Risk portfolio.
  • Review financial and operational performance and research sector, industry, and economic environment to assess impact.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of workout (recovery) strategies that are intended to either minimize the risks or maximize returns on larger commercial transactions for the purpose of restructuring, stabilizing, or exiting of all managedaccounts.
  • Build financial models reflecting financial positions and determine appropriate debt structure and debt value using valuation methodologies.
  • Create complex discounted cash flow models to determine the enterprise value of the company and property in question.
  • Assess liquidity, debt capacity and other areas of financial and operating performance to evaluate areas of weakness and potential for turnaround.
  • Prioritize the EMEA team's account coverage and provide analytical leadership with regard to valuation and classification reviews to ensure functional consistency. This will include reviewing and verifying the accuracy and appropriateness of valuationsand classification analysis.
  • Coordinate and manage projects affecting the VCAT, and approve valuation and classification analysis.
  • Supporting negotiations with customers, bank group lenders, and internal Citi product/customer partners.
  • Reviewing accounts on a routine basis to gauge the level of progress achieved versus stated action plan, payment status (delinquency), documentation exceptions, annual review anniversaries, financial covenants, data integrity, and any other customer service(internal or external) followups that arise
  • Preparing metrics and reporting criteria for loan performance including internal and external requirements.
  • Demonstrates commitment to champion Citi's culture and ethical standards; dedicated to leading by example.
  • Coach and mentor across groups/teams
  • Developing and cultivating new and current talent plus promoting staff for Citigroup programs

Qualifications:


  • Master's degree in Finance or closely related field and analytical experience in investment banking, corporate banking or credit risk. Will accept a Bachelor's degree in Finance or closely related field and 5 years of progressive postbaccalaureate experiencein investment banking, corporate banking or credit risk management
  • Sound understanding of remedial management; recognizes issues and is able to establish and process risk mitigation plans from inception to implementation to resolution
  • Proven technical expertise and good understanding of products, tools, and associated
  • Excellent strategic and implementation skills.
  • Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level
  • Prior work experience must include:
(1) building restructuring and valuation models using Discounted Cash Flow, Comparable Valuation Multiple and Internal Rate of Return analyses, Bloomberg and Factset;
(2) assessing financial and operating performing including free cash flow generation, liquidity and debt capacity;
(3) building enterprise valuation models for accounting determinations (write offs and reserves/expected credit losses); and
(4) performing credit risk analysis including assigning credit classification, triggers, and restructuring options.


Education:


  • Bachelor's/University degree, Master's degree preferred
