The Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies intends to appoint a Departmental Lecturer (DL) in Persian Studies.

This is a one-year position from 1st September 2023 in the first instance, to cover the teaching and certain other duties of a permanent post-holder during a period of sabbatical and research leave.

(You must be able to start at the latest on 1st September 2023.)

You will have:

a doctorate in Persian Studies, with a specialisation in Iranian history, to be achieved before the start date of the appointment; a proven ability to give lectures and classes to undergraduate and graduate students, and to teach premodern and modern texts in Persian.

You will also have sufficient depth and breadth of knowledge in Persian Studies to develop course materials, and to supervise research topics in the general field of medieval and modern history.

You must demonstrate an ability and willingness to contribute to the administration of degree courses and good teamworking skills.

**This position is based in central Oxford. This is a full-time, fixed-term position until 31 August 2024.
