Grade 6, 35 hour per week contract, term time only (39.2 working weeks)
(Full-Time Equivalent Salary - £23,194 - £25,878, Pro-Rata Salary - £19,053 - £21,257)
Purpose
To use specialist knowledge and experience to support identified students and families to ensure at least good attendance and engagement with the school.
Work will be carried out in the school environment and will also be outside school and may be in the student's home.
Support to Students
- To analyse school attendance data to identify attendance patterns for groups and individual students.
- To identify students of serious attendance concern through analysis of attendance data and to implement personalized strategies and provisions for them.
- To regularly review and formulate support strategies for students of serious concern.
- To regularly monitor the attendance of all disadvantaged students, in conjunction with the Deputy Headteacher with responsibility for Pupil Premium Progress.
- To attend core group and strategy meetings for identified young people.
- Where appropriate, arrange, manage and attend visits to the homes or alternative education placements of identified students, in collaboration with the Line Manager.
- Where appropriate, implement and lead referrals to outside agencies where appropriate such as EHAs for identified students, in collaboration with student services.
- To lead on attendance plans for identified students in conjunction with the student and parents/carers. To record plans on appropriate school systems and review plans on a timely basis.
- To maintain regular communication with tutors and Directors of Year and other appropriate pastoral staff regarding communication with home for absent students to ensure intervention at the earliest possible time.
- To maintain regular contact and establish constructive relationships with families/carers of children in need of support, giving information, advice and guidance where appropriate.
- To coordinate the use of parenting contracts, parenting orders and penalty notices to address poor attendance.
- To oversee the safe and well visits of students who have not attended school for up to 10 days and when appropriate to attend home visits with other staff members.
- Liaise with primary schools to identify and provide intervention for new Year 7 students whose attendance is a cause for concern.
- To keep up to date with government legislation, guidance and news regarding attendance matters to support in the review of attendance operations and procedures and share this with the pastoral team when appropriate.
- Fulfil role of one of Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads as part of a wider safeguarding team.
