Job - Superintendent Mammographer:


Location - The Wellington Hospital

Contract Type - Permanent, full time hours 37.5hrs

Salary - Very competitive plus 10% joining bonus (T's & C's apply)
An exciting opportunity to join and lead our Breast Imaging Service at The Wellington Hospital has arisen.

You will be tasked with efficiently running the department, maintaining high standards and supervising and mentoring all staff within the Mammography service.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • To manage the daytoday running of the Breast Imaging Unit in order to provide a professional, efficient and costeffective Mammography service.
  • To organise the training, supervision and professional development of the staff who will be working in the Breast Imaging Unit
  • To deputise for and assist the Breast Unit Lead, Deputy Imaging Manager and the Imaging Manager as required
  • To work as a senior member of the team responsible for maintaining and developing the mammography/radiology service.
  • To support in the management of the department, ensuring a highquality service for all users.
  • Regularly review staffing levels, skill mixes and working arrangements including use of Workday and Facility Scheduler, reviewing staff training and professional development as well as assisting with annual appraisals.
  • Review actions to increase numbers where these fall below the minimum number expected. This may include rotating staff through other facilities to increase their volumes.
  • Develop action plans to address underperformance and identify additional audits as necessary
  • Ensure policies and procedures are in place and have been reviewed when required

IRMER policies may need to be reviewed annually to comply with guidance).

  • Ensure department audits are undertaken across the Breast Imaging Team and action plans undertaken to improve quality where needed.
  • To work closely with the radiologists in setting up policies and protocols for all techniques and organise with the radiologists' techniques appropriate for each patient request.
  • Assist management with clinical audit and clinical governance processes within the Breast Imaging Unit.
  • To be responsible for all management aspects within the legal and policy guidelines with regard to:
  • Health and Safety, Data Protection, Patient Confidentiality, Equal Opportunities

Skills & Experience

  • BSc (Hons) in Diagnostic Radiography or Equivalent
  • Post Grad Certificate in Mammography or equivalent
  • 5 years post qualification experience
  • Ability to multitask and delegate under pressure
  • Knowledge of relevant hospital policies and procedures
