This is an exciting time within Hiscox as the UK Retail Business is currently transforming its existing change capability into a scaled Agile delivery model.

We are therefore expanding our in-house engineering / test teams to match our ambition and requirea person to become a key and influential member with a strong focus on quality and automation.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to make sure quality is embedded into everything we do and to work with our 3rd party (mainly offshore) partners and UK based staff to ensure requirements are effectively converted to automatedtests that guarantee our technologies conform with our expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

You will be (hands on) responsible for the evaluation, implementation, maintenance and ongoing improvements of our test automation solutions, ensuring standards are followed and the solutions are best suited to the technologies under test.
You will ensure that the test automation capability is fully aligned and supports the overarching test strategy
Where gaps are identified, you will be responsible for identifying, assessing and contributing to technical POCs alongside other teams as appropriate
You will own the technical improvements backlog ensuring our current solutions are continually assessed, improved, and integrated
You will be leading, mentoring and supporting the test automation engineers and wider assurance community
You will work with the QA Lead Engineer to devise and implement training plans and material to ensure the wider team start to build test automation knowledge
You are consistently coming up with new ideas and ways of working keeping a pulse on the latest tools and technologies
You will work to promote and increase visibility of the QA function and its technical capabilities with the wider team

Essential Skills:

Sound understanding of various test methodologies and what good test automation looks like (functional and nonfunctional) in supporting the end to end testing process.
Experience in the implementation and use of Tosca, Neoload, Jmeter, Dynatrace
Experience developing and enhancing test automation frameworks
Experience working with modern tech stacks and principles including cloud technologies, CI/CD, TDD, BDD, Agile
Technical leadership skills, strong communication and collaboration skills
Have the ability to mentor and upskill technical peers and juniors in technologies new to them.
Experience in working with version control tools like git/Bitbucket / ADO
Selfstarter, have the ability and drive to learn about new tools and technologies

Advantageous skills

Experience in.

Net / Java/C# development

Understanding of Azure Cloud
Knowledge of Retail Insurance through Direct, broker and modern partner channels

You will be a capable and confident communicator with an engaging and credible background.

You will be a high-calibre change / quality agent and will be able to collaborate with architects / Developers and 3rd parties to ensure that the right behaviours, technology and tooling is utilised for the right projects.

You will have experience working within a regulated environment and multiple stakeholders (inclusive of internal and 3rd party, physically and virtually based)
