Cardiff

Contract:
Permanent, 15 hours per week

Working Schedule:
Flexible 2/3 days per week, Monday-Friday 9-5.

About this role:


Caniad is an independent service, hosted by Adferiad Recovery helping to promote the voices and experiences of people who use the mental health services of Cardiff and The Vale University Health Board and their Carers /Supporters.

This service aims to inform and support beneficial change, co productively with Mental Health Clinical Board.


The project will identify involvement opportunities, facilitate attendance at meetings, forums, and events, recruit new members, support provision of relevant training and IT support, reimburse expenses.


The coordinator role will be responsible for offering support to those involved with Caniad to facilitate involvement and co-production opportunities to enhance services.

The coordinator will work with all communities and background within Cardiff and The Vale who have recent experience of mental health services.

While trying to develop meaningful engagement with those communities that have not yet been reached within the wider BAME community of Cardiff and The Vale, with a view to enabling true representation of all communities that we serve.

The coordinator will also support the Team Leader by ensuring that all involvement opportunities are completed to a high standard.

To do this all Adferiad Recovery Services regularly engage with those who access the service. To shape the service to meet the needs of the community we serve.


Main Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Coordinating the daily delivery of the services in line with the directions of the Team Leader, demonstrating the values of equality, empowerment, compassion and understanding.
  • To work with individuals who use or have used mental health services to facilitate opportunities to share their views and experiences and contribute towards the planning, design, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of the services they, or their cared for, receive.
  • To work with the Team Leader to develop pathways of involvement for people that may not have shared their views before.
  • To make involvement opportunities visible and attractive to all communities within Cardiff and The Vale that use the Health Boards Mental Health services and their carers/supporters. There will be a required focus to reach out and support the communities that have not yet been reached.
  • To work with the Team Leader to develop meetings across the region and ensure that meaningful feedback and engagement is received from Health Board colleagues and citizens.
  • To maintain up to date records, statistics and proforma as required to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the service and to contribute this information to overall service reports as required.
  • To assist individuals who use mental health services to be part of recruitment processes for service providers.

Person Criteria:


  • Experience/ demonstratable understanding of participation in strategic meetings e.g. multidisciplinary meetings
  • Experience/ demonstratable understanding of working with, and developing groups involving a diverse range of people
  • Experience/ demonstratable understanding of working with people with a mental illness, including producing appropriate risk assessments
