If so, this could be the perfect position for you Defence Equipment& Support (DE&S) are currently recruiting for Cost Control Engineers based out of Manchester.

DE&S are a highly specialised part of the Ministry of Defence; ensuring our UK military customers - Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force - have the equipmentand support they need to carry out their duties effectively.


We operate a hybrid working environment, although given the requirements of the role the expectation is that you will attend the Manchester site approximately two to three days per week and initially, you will be expected to attend more frequently to familiariseyourself with the site, the team and the product you will be working on in more detail.

**About the role

**As a Cost Control Engineer, your responsibilities could include but are not limited to: - Analysing supplier bid data, to ensure free from errors and cost aspects are as requested in the ITT (Invitation to Tender).

  • Reviewing contractors' proposals and assess against the Single Source Pricing Regulations (SSPR). Testing all aspects of Cost against Allowable, Attributable and Reasonable Principles.
  • Leading and participating in meetings with contractors, military customers, and internal stakeholders to improve the quality of the evidence supplied to support bidders' costs.
  • Communicating project cost engineering data to key members of the Project or Programme Leadership.
  • Producing reports that summarise Cost Engineering investigations and provide analysis to support contract negotiation.
  • Support project teams as a Cost SME during supplier negotiations.
  • Working with colleagues to develop Basis of Estimates for Equipment, Services and Products.
  • Use project performance cost data to aid project teams with contract management actions.
  • Analyse and Estimate Contract Change requests or Option studies.
  • Utilise estimating techniques to support studies and options analysis such as Benchmarking, Parametric, Top down and Bottomup estimating.

Person specification

  • Proven track record in a Cost Engineering or Project Controls role within a Project Environment.
  • Knowledge of Cost Estimating and Cost Analysis for manufacturing, production, engineering, construction, or infrastructure projects.
  • Relevant experience of either Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) or project delivery background.
  • Experience in the use of analytical tools and techniques, such as Excel.
