Primary Engineer is a UK-wide, not-for-profit educational company. Our vision is to ensure that all children and young people achieve their potential through our programmes for schools.

Our growth ambition means we now require a highly motivated sales / business development professional to identify and secure new funding partnerships whilst enhancing the existing ones across Scotland.


Key Responsibilities:

  • To create a sustainable funding pipeline by developing a successful network across Scotland.
  • To increase funding through new partnerships and grant funding.
  • To grow and maintain partnerships with existing funders.
  • To be an advocate of all Primary Engineer programmes.
  • To be able to quickly develop an understanding of the current stakeholders in the Scottish and wider UK STEM landscape.
  • To learn to speak with confidence on Scottish education policy, future skills and engineering.
  • To meet defined targets, provide clear forecasts and regular reporting within given time frames.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Successful sales/business development experience in previous role(s).
  • Target driven with a track record of successful partnership creation.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Strong networking capability.
  • Selfmotivated remote worker and also able to work as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Office 365 and experience of using CRM systems.
  • The role will require some business travel and overnight stays.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Knowledge of the wider STEM landscape.
  • Understanding of the engineering sectors in Scotland.
  • Understanding of the Scottish education landscape.
  • Full UK driving licence.
We will undertake a Disclosure Scotland check for the appointed applicant.


Terms & Benefits:

  • Salary: £35,000 / year.

  • 29 days holiday per year (including bank holidays)
  • An additional day holiday for each year of employment up to 5 years.
  • Work from home with opportunity to use Glasgow office.
  • The post is fulltime at 37.5 hours per week.
  • Hours of work will be Monday to Friday between 08:30 and 16:30.
  • Ability to travel throughout the UK when required.
