This exciting new role is responsible for the planning, coordination, and delivery of the Key Stage (KS) 2/3 Maths Transition programme which is part of our wider engagement with our local schools and our local White City community.

The programme is a multi-intervention outreach initiative engaging several local schools.

It will target pupils in upper KS2, providing a range of activities to support the participants with their maths studies and the important skills needed for a successful transition to secondary school study.

The postholder will work closely with local schools and to act as a link between the schools, pupils, their families, and Imperial.


About the Outreach team


We seek a highly motivated individual who is passionate about education, who has an understanding and experience of primary and / or early secondary education and is interested in coordinating a new programme.

It is crucial for the post-holder to be proactive and independent, with an ability to work effectively with colleagues both internally and externally, to ensure the programme is delivered successfully as well as having a real passion for engaging young people and their families in maths.


Duties and responsibilities:

You will be responsible for the day-to-day coordination and delivery of the Key Stage 2/3 Maths transition programme


This includes:

  • Liaison with key school contacts and other programme stakeholders.
  • Developing, updating and maintaining programme plans for all parts of the programme.
  • Liaising with academics, teachers and external consultants to ensure programme content is planned, developed, and delivered to meet the needs of the programme and participants.
  • Managing casual or temporary event staff across the different aspects of the programme, including recruiting academic leaders and student ambassadors to deliver and support the programme
  • Ensuring that all ambassadors and leaders receive appropriate training and support to ensure the programme and its content are delivered effectively.

Essential requirements:


  • An undergraduate degree or equivalent
  • Experience of teaching or engaging with young people
  • Experience of managing a programme or project
  • Detailed knowledge of teaching practices in UK primary and / or early secondary education
  • A good understanding of safeguarding policies and legislation
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with children, young people, and adults
  • A high level of diplomacy and confidentiality
  • Excellent written and spoken English, with a friendly approachable manner
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to prepare clear and concise information
  • Selfmotivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
