Description

Our Company

Transition Bio is an innovative, early-stage biotechnology company with the vision of being the world leader in data-driven discovery, analysis, and modulation of biological condensates.

At Transition Bio, multidisciplinary teams with diverse skill sets in molecular biology, biophysics, chemistry, engineering, data science and machine learning work closely together, building first-in-class technology platforms for condensate analysis and high-throughput drug screening.

With close affiliation to Cambridge and Harvard universities, our approach is truly original and encompasses a growing collection of novel technologies and methodologies.

The Opportunity
The internship will be focussed on supporting the development and testing of the company's data pipeline tool.

The tool drives drug discovery by processing large amounts of data from different assays and modalities in a scalable and versioned manner.

The internship is expected to last 6 months, with a view to start in May/June 2024; it represents an excellent opportunity for students who recently graduated with a university degree (or higher), or who are currently already working in the field and wish to gain further work experience in a rapidly developing biotechnology start-up.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to

  • Develop key components of the company's inhouse data pipeline tool.
  • Ensure consistency and robustness by designing and running test scenarios.
  • Continuously review requirements and scope by interacting with biologists and assay scientists.
  • Manage the tool's deployment cycle and suggest improvements.

Required qualifications and experience

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science or related fields. Students entering their final year of undergraduate studies would also be considered.
  • Experience of Rust and Python programming languages.
  • Experience using a Linux operating system would be advantageous.
  • Experience using AWS.
  • Knowledge of docker images and k8s for container orchestration.
  • Ability to organise, analyse, and deliver information in a concise, accurate, and professional manner; strong written and oral communication skills; excellent data management skills.
  • An interest in cuttingedge science and a high degree of integrity and team orientation; a cando motivating attitude.
