We're now looking for a
Multimedia Production Assistant (12 month FTC or staff secondment) to assist the multimedia editors and video producers with research, video editing and the management of video assets in our media asset management system.


Our video content is imperative to engage with our digital audiences, and our production assistant is key in creating breaking news edits for social media and to edit trailers of our award winning Guardian documentaries, which tell stories ranging from female boxers in Venezuela through to LGBTQ+ pop stars in Lebanon.

This varied role will play a pivotal part in the fast paced production team.


About The Role

  • Assisting the multimedia editors and video producers with research and video editing.
  • Under the guidance of a multimedia editor or video producer this could include:
  • Editing trailers and social cuts of Guardian video features and documentaries
  • Helping go through rushes and producing assembly edits at the beginning of the editing process or adding final production to a feature/doc and exporting a final version to launch
  • Assisting video producers research topics and find contributors for videos
  • Making sure video producers have provided exports for syndication and helping the syndication team with requests and updating assets in our asset management system
  • Assisting on studio shoots, helping set up camera equipment

About
You

  • Journalistic experience in a video environment
  • Production assistant experience in a video environment
  • Understanding and enthusiasm for The Guardian's editorial values
  • Experience of working in a changing and pressurised environment
  • Demonstrable enthusiasm for web journalism
  • Experience with content management systems
  • Ideally, you'll have a demonstrable ability to bring a diverse perspective to this role
