Named Midwife for Safeguarding Children


The Maternity Service at SaSH provides care for approximately 5000 women and families each year with a birth rate of 4500.

We are seeking an enthusiastic senior member of staff.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Named Midwife for Safeguarding Children to join our existing team.
The successful post holder will take the strategic lead and oversee safeguarding within maternity services.


The Named Midwife for Safeguarding Children will be responsible for working with vulnerable neonates, unborn children and families, working in partnership with the wider safeguarding team.


The Named Midwife will provide midwifery care to a group of women with highly complex needs developing specialised programmes of care when completing birth planning, escalating concerns to improve health and wellbeing outcomes, and ensuring the needs of the child remain paramount.


They will be expected to work in collaboration with local authorities and partner agencies to prioritise the local and national agenda for safeguarding within maternity services.
