CU Coventry are looking to recruit an inspirational individual to the position of Course Leader for Access to Higher Education courses within CU Coventry.

The individual sought will have already demonstrated an outstanding record of academic and administrative skills in Further and Higher Education environments and will have primary experience in leading courses and line managing other individuals.

Course Leaders maintain their currency in respect of the future HE landscape and will have demonstrated innovative practices with regards to teaching, learning & assessment across degree courses, as well as contemporary course design to meet changing markets within the area.

In addition, Course Leaders are outstanding tutors, able to demonstrate a contemporary knowledge of Access to Higher Education courses and related practices within this diverse field.

This area is undergoing constant change and adaptions and it is likely that this post holder will be involved in reviewing the courses to ensure its value in the portfolio offered at CU Coventry.


Teaching, curriculum development, attendance and monitoring of students through their courses; promoting student success and progression through active participation in departmental events; devising relevant workshops and presenting at examination boards are key aspects of this role.

In addition, Course leaders are responsible for managing a small number of staff within the immediate area.

We are looking for an individual who demonstrates a passion for continuing development of both self and curriculum. The individual will also have experience with Ofsted and be familiar with Ofsted's inspection framework and processes.

Within the institution you will alongside a number of other middle and senior managers, promote the reputation of this course, and the institution as a whole.

Furthermore, you will have some experience of writing new programmes, as you would be expected to contribute to the development of new courses.


It is essential you hold at least a Master's Degree in a relevant discipline or an equivalent professional qualification with significant practical work experience in a related discipline.

You will have or be willing to achieve a relevant teaching qualification such as PGCHE/Higher Education Academy (Associate Fellow/ Fellow) accreditation.
