Catering Assistant | Job Description
Fixed Term Contract* | Up to 35.5 hours p/w available | £11.00 per hour

Working Pattern:
To include Sunday 9am - 5pm, as well as negotiable weekday hours to be agreed with the postholder.

Dunollie Museum, Castle & Grounds, Oban, Argyll


Start Date ASAP
End Date 27 October 202- Please note that this contract is fixed term until Friday 27 October, however, there is potential for hours over the winter months and a more permanent arrangement for the 2024 season.


Purpose of the Role
The purpose of this role is to assist the Catering Coordinator in opening and running of the daily food and drink preparation and service at The Kettle Garden Café; a small café with outdoor seating (approx. 20 covers) based in the grounds of Dunollie.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with the preparation of the daily savoury menu / baking, including taking the lead with food preparation on Sundays.
• Serving customers during opening hours, including food and drink preparation for customers.
• Food Hygiene overview and record keeping, including assisting with the cleaning and tidying the kitchen area at the end of each day.
• Assisting the Catering Coordinator in ordering/maintaining stock and supplies.
• Ensuring excellent customer service and maintaining the positive reputation of the Kettle Garden Café.
• Attending training where required.

Essential:

• A passion for food and using locally sourced produce.
• Good communication skills.
• An ability to work under pressure during busy periods.
• Commitment to excellent customer services, including a friendly, helpful, and welcoming approach to all.
• A willingness to develop own knowledge of the local area, Dunollie Museum, Castle and Grounds and the history of the Clan MacDougall.

Desirable:

• Knowledge and/or experience of safely preparing food in a commercial kitchen.
• An uptodate Food Hygiene Certificate
• Cash and credit card handling experience

Full training will be given, including barista service.

Part-time hours: 37 per week
