Description
Our client is a well respected and rapidly expanding business operating within the house building / construction industry.
As part of the companies continued expansion FRS have been enlisted to assist with the recruitment of a qualified accountant to join the business as Financial Controller


Working closely with the Owners and Finance Director this is a key and progressive role taking ownership of the below working from their offices close to Market Harborough.

Manage the consolidated monthly close process, ensuring a clean close of all sub-ledgers, interfaces, and accounting judgements.

  • Preparation of monthly management reporting for the BU including commentary which explains both YTD and fullyear forecast
variances from budget (or forecast), for incorporation in the monthly BUMT Board Report.

  • Submission of actuals and forecast data to Division and Group (via OneStream) on WD4, confirming the accuracy of all data in the
P&L, balance sheet, cash flow and other submitted operational data.

  • Lead preparation of the biannual detailed business plan/budget, with support from the FD and with key decisions taken by the
business and members of the BUMT.

  • Account, forecast and report on cost excesses/savings, and attend cost valuation meetings.
  • Preparation of cash flow forecasting to submit to Group Treasury including commentary on any variances.
  • Review balance sheet reconciliations, including entries and accounts managed by central teams (e.g. payroll accounting), ensuring
that items are correctly analysed and any accounting anomalies are cleared on a timely basis.

  • Proactively support and business partner managers/directors from the BU's other TW functions. Providing information to enable
robust decision making and constructively challenging those decisions where necessary.

  • Ensure Finance Manual procedures are complied with and timely dispensation sought where appropriate.
  • Liaise with external/internal audit and manage the process of delivering information required.
  • Review and manage VAT and CIS returns for accuracy, before submission to Group Tax.
  • Review and obtain signoff for monthly payment runs and ensure they are in line with group limits.
  • Line manager of 4 finance staff, manage the team members through a positive, engaging approach, ensuring that processes are
robust and controlled, and outputs delivered correctly and in a timely manner

  • Oversight and approval of changes made by the Accounts Clerk to the BU payroll.
  • Attend sales/build meetings, manage production of weekly sales and build reports.
  • Deputise for the FD and attend meetings on their behalf
  • Ensure integrity of Coins, Anaplan and OneStream accounting systems.
A basic salary of £60,000 to £80,000 + Car Allowance and sizable bonus awaits.
