THE ROLE
An exciting opportunity has arisen for the position of Project Manager within our Major Works South Team.

Reporting to the Construction Manager, you will be part of a small and dedicated team working to successfully deliver replacement projects of a complexnature often in high profile locations including above-ground installations.


What does this role focus on?

  • Project Management at the highest level of safety.
  • Technical coordination and good knowledge of SCO operations
  • Support procurement activities to ensure compliance with relevant specifications.
  • Onsite supervision of construction activities.
  • Commissioning of all aspects of gas network construction projects.
  • Managing projects to meet programme and budget constraints.
  • Coordination of project related activities interfacing with SGN Operations, Asset Management, Gas Control and other departments, and externally with third parties, contractors, specialist suppliers and other interested parties.
  • Management of project documentation and drawings throughout the life of the project.
  • Cultivation of a safety culture throughout the projects.
  • Ensuring required controls are in place to make sure the team are set to work safely.


As a Project Manager you will join a small team of experienced engineers and project managers and be developed in the role.

This will be supported by line managers and mentors following a training and development plan with potential to progress further.

What are we looking for from you?

  • Experience of working in engineering or construction in the gas industry, Ideally SCO competencies in SCO1,2, 5 4 at both CP and AE level ( Desirable)

Other skills we look for;

  • The ability to get on well with all types of people e.g. members of the public, managers, customers, suppliers etc.
  • An awareness of working within a budget and being costconscious.
  • The ability to think on your feet whilst always being safety aware.
  • Flexibility is essential in this role both in terms of hours of work and responsibilities (you may also be required to visit locations around the South Footprint for training or to support team activities).
  • Experience CDM and of Safety, Health and Environmental management within a project environment.
  • A reasonable level of computer literacy,
  • The ability to understand and manage projects from inception to commissioning, meet tight timescales, multitask and react to changing priorities in a challenging environment
  • A knowledge of the replacement and operations process is desirable at this level.
  • As this role will involve a significant amount of travel, you must have a valid driving licence and be willing to spend time away from your primary location.
  • You will be expected to take part in an emergency standby rota with support and training
