Description

To work as a fully integrated member of the multidisciplinary team within QPC, according to a plan agreed with the CEO and the supervising psychologist.

To support and enhance the professional psychological care of residents within QPC by providing psychological support and interventions, under the supervision of a qualified clinical psychologist working within the service, and by working independently according to a plan agreed with the CEO and the supervising psychologist.

To assist in clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collection of outcome statistics, and/or other project work as appropriate and agreed with the service teams and supervising psychologist.

Principal Responsibilities

Clinical:

Conduct one-to-one therapeutic session with selected young people with close direction from the clinical psychologist.
To assist in the written psychological formulation of service users under the supervision of a qualified psychologist.
Assist in the administration of a range of psychometric tests that assess the child/young person's cognitive functioning and mental health.
To attend and contribute to multi-disciplinary meetings.

Teaching, training and supervision

To receive regular clinical supervision in accordance with professional practice guidelines.
To develop skills and competencies that assist in the delivery of current duties. 3. To contribute to the training and support of other staff in psychological care.

Management, recruitment and service development

To assist in the design and implementation of service improvement projects within the designated service area as required, under the leadership of the qualified professional psychologist.
When required, to attend meetings in which service improvements or developments are planned and discussed.

Research and service evaluation

To assist the qualified professional psychologist in the design and implementation of audit and research projects.
To undertake data collection, analysis, the production of reports and summaries, using IT and statistical programmes, as required by the qualified professional psychologist.
To undertake evidence-based literature searches and provide feedback on the findings to the wider QPC team.

IT responsibilities

To use a variety of software including office software and statistical packages, for example Microsoft Office to produce reports and presentations.
To design and set up appropriate databases to support the audit and development of clinical activities within QPC, under the leadership of the qualified professional psychologist.

Professional /Administrative

To work within the Code of Ethics and the relevant professional practice guidelines of the British Psychological Society and the professional guidance framework of QPC.
To work within the framework of the policies and procedures of QPC and to undertake the mandatory training stipulated QPC policies.
To be responsible for relevant data collection on work activities, inputting data onto QPC databases as required, and to maintain a high standard of clinical record keeping.
To maintain and develop IT skills appropriate to the demands of the post. This includes the ability to communicate effectively using IT, and the ability to search and gather electronically information related to psychological assessment and intervention.
To contribute to the development and maintenance of the highest professional standards of practice, through active participation in internal and external CPD training and development programmes, in consultation with the Lead Consultant Psychologist and CEO.
To be aware of legislation, national and local policies and to keep abreast of developments in Clinical/Counselling Psychology, particularly in the field of Child Mental Health and Psychological Therapy.
To participate in regular appraisals and personal development planning with the CEO and the Lead Consultant Psychologist.
To carry out such other duties as the CEO, Lead Consultant Psychologist and /or Psychological Therapies Leadmay reasonably request.

Communication and Working Relationships

Internal:

To liaise with multidisciplinary team colleagues working within QPC.

External:

To maintain appropriate links with local and national statutory and voluntary bodies, for example the British Psychological Society and Health and Care Professions Council

This is not an exhaustive list of duties and responsibilities, and the post holder may be required to undertake other duties which fall within the grade of the job, in discussion with the managers of the designated services.

This job description will be reviewed regularly in the light of changing service requirements and any such changes will be discussed with the post holder.

Salary:
£25,000.00 per year
