Main Purpose of Role

  • To review and assess 'local' reports of fraud in order to assist in the effective early triage and intervention.
  • To make contact with victims to establish what further action is required, referring cases where appropriate to Action Fraud, signposting victims if necessary to other agencies and providing crime prevention advice and support.

Key Skills & Experience Required
A Fraud Triage Assistant will be expected to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • Experience of interrogating, maintaining and utilising data on a variety of computerised systems.
  • Demonstrate an experience of making timely, balanced and objective decisions.
  • Knowledge of GDPR, Fraud Act 2006, Proceeds of Crime, Computer Misuse Act, Human Rights Act, Management of Police Information, Home Office counting rules for recorded crime.
  • Must be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, both in writing and orally, in a concise, factual and unambiguous manner, taking account of the needs of the intended reader/audience.
  • Must be capable or working individually with little or no supervision and as part of a team.
  • Must be flexible in approach to duty requirements including occasional weekend working and be willing to work from alternative locations throughout the Force area when required to do so.
