The Oral Health Promotion (OHP) Team is commissioned to work with 9 South London Local Authorities.

The post holder will deliver oral health promotion across the communities of South London, with specific responsibility for the Boroughs of Kingston, Richmond and Wandsworth.

However there will be occasional working in the boroughs of Merton, Sutton, Croydon, Lewisham, Southwark and Lambeth.

  • Work in schools to promote oral health, this will include providing evidence based classroom activities
  • Provide coaching and mentoring of new team members.
  • Plan and provide workforce training for health and nonhealth professionals working in the community, for example, health visiting teams and children's centre managers.
  • Build links across the community with practitioners and groups to promote oral health and develop joint working to improve the opportunities for oral health.
  • Communicate evidence based oral health advice to local families in settings across the community, using a wide variety of methods and resources. This will include display, puppetry, costume and arts based activities.
  • Work in schools to promote oral health, this will include providing evidence based classroom activities
, delivery of health events, information and advice for parents/carers and supporting school staff

  • Assist in the organisation and the delivery of Fluoride Varnishing Application Programmes. To ensure the smooth running of activities and that programmes are consistent with legislation policies and procedures.
  • Deliver oral health promotion with hard to reach and vulnerable groups across the community.
  • Promote the oral health of older people and provide information and advice for carers and staff teams working with older people.
  • Organise and deliver the Infant Preventative Dental Scheme, including home visiting to support families with children with additional needs

  • Support data management, activity monitoring and evaluation of OHP programmes under the direction of the OHP Manager
  • Day to day organisation, delivery and monitoring of the Oral Health Promotion Programme (OHPP).This will include the coordination and smooth running of activities and consistency with the delivery plan, needs of the department, legislation, policies and procedure.
  • Work in schools to promote oral health, this will include providing evidence based classroom activities
  • Provide coaching and mentoring of new team members.
  • Plan and provide workforce training for health and nonhealth professionals working in the community, for example, health visiting teams and children's centre managers.
  • Deputise for the OHP Manager(s) as needed in fulfilling OHP commissioned contracts and team management
  • Build links across the community with practitioners and groups to promote oral health and develop joint working to improve the opportunities for oral health.
  • Communicate evidence based oral health advice to local families in settings across the community, using a wide variety of methods and resources. This will include display, puppetry, costume and arts based activities.
  • Work in schools to promote oral health, this will include providing evidence based classroom activities
