Our Water Management team works across a wide spectrum of services covering water resources and security, hydrology and hydraulics, water quality, hydroecology and hydrogeology.

Through our projects we provide high quality technical services and advice to a wide range of high-profile customers in the UK and overseas, including government departments and agencies, the water industry, and a wide range of other industrial sectors, including power, transport, nuclear, mining, commercial and oil and gas.


Since the start of AMP7 Period we have seen a significant growth in demand for our skills across the UK Water Company Sector and associated Regulators.

This demand is forecast to increase further through the remainder of AMP7 and AMP8.

In order to meet this demand, we are looking to recruit additional Consultant level technical skills in numerical hydrogeology, groundwater modelling and water resources management and planning.


This role can be based in any of our main UK offices: Bristol, London, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Shrewsbury, Glasgow, Leeds, Manchester or Birmingham and will be able to benefit from hybrid office-home working
.



Your new role, what's involved?
Your work will be varied and challenging and is likely to include the following:

  • Hydrogeological data analysis and visualisation
  • Groundwater and Water Resources modelling to support water resource estimation and management, as well as environmental impact assessment
  • Designing and carrying out field surveys, with the possibility of site supervision
  • Opportunities for Project Management
  • Contributing to technical reports and presentations
  • Supporting the development of proposals for new projects


Although primarily a UK based role, you will also be expected to work collaboratively with teams across WSP's global business.

So, being able to work effectively as part of a diverse team, as well as individually for discrete tasks, is very important to us.


We'd love to hear from you if you have:

  • A higher degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. hydrogeology, water management, environmental science, or similar), is desirable, but not essential
  • Ideally, you will also have some understanding of the regulatory framework for water management in the UK
  • Prior use of groundwater modelling codes such as MODFLOW, coding to customise water resources models and experience in the use of Python are all highly desirable, but not essential. You should also have experience in use of MS Office tools (Excel, Access) and use of GIS packages, such as ArcGIS or QGIS
  • You will collaborate effectively as part of a team, but also exhibit initiative in working individually on discrete tasks
  • You will demonstrate excellent communication skills, including being able to write high quality, concise reports
  • Working towards / be prepared to work towards Chartership with a relevant institution
