A Local Authority in Southeast London is currently seeking a Community Safety Coordinator to join them on a contract basis, initially until March 2025.

The Violence reduction role will take the lead for violence and vulnerability issues in the Borough. These issues include the priorities for the Safer Partnership and include reducing serious violence and VAWG.


The roles include:

  • Supporting the Community Safety Manager to deliver the Safer Partnership priorities to reduce violence, including gang related violence and knife crime as well as violence against women and girls (VAWG), and other relevant priorities for the partnership that may emerge.
  • Collaborating with community safety partnerships and relevant stakeholders to create a coordinated approach towards violence reduction.
  • Addressing issues related to youth violence and gangs by designing intervention programs and initiatives that target atrisk youth and promote positive alternatives.
  • Leading efforts to combat violence against women and girls by implementing awareness campaigns, support services, and preventative measures.
  • Overseeing the launch and implementation of the serious violence duty, which may involve working with law enforcement agencies and other organisations to identify and address highrisk individuals involved in violent activities.
  • Developing and executing the VRU violence and vulnerability action plan, which outlines specific goals and measures to reduce violence and vulnerability within the community.
  • Collecting and analysing data to evaluate the effectiveness of violence reduction programs, adjusting as necessary to improve outcomes.

Knowledge and experience required:

  • Knowledge of a Community Safety Partnership, Local Authority Safeguarding, or criminal justice setting.
  • An understanding of the issues and barriers to progress that young people and their peer groups experience through their transition into adulthood.
  • An understanding of project work that can support young people who are at risk of criminal offending, to fulfil their potential and make positive life choices.
  • Knowledge of information sharing and data protection principles.
  • Understanding of the VAWG agenda and how violence against women and girls can be tackled.
  • Experience of working with a diverse range of partners to develop a common set of outcomes.
  • Experience of developing and monitoring outcomes
  • Knowledge and experience of crime and antisocial behaviour problem solving methodologies.
  • Experience of project support duties.
  • Experience of working with sensitive data and confidential information within a criminal justice / community safety environment

Temporary contract


Salary:
£23.07 per hour
