    Psychology Support for Elite Development Programme

    The role of the psychologist will be to provide psychology support to the programme, working closely with the Head Coach and staff team.

    Main Responsibilities:

    • 1-1 and Small Group Psychology Support: Provide targeted psychology support to a group of identified Elite Development Programme athletes to aid their psychological development and transition to the Senior Centralised programme.
    • Tournament Preparation: Offer psychology support to the GB / ENGU21 teams in preparation for major tournaments such as Junior World Cups and European Cups.
    • Staff Training: Develop and deliver training to staff teams to enhance their understanding of sub-senior elite players aged 17-23, enabling them to create psychologically informed environments where players can develop their mental and teamwork skills.
    • Performance Psychology Approach: Develop a performance psychology approach for the Elite Development Programme, incorporating ways of working with external partners to maximise available resources.
    • Wellbeing and Signposting: Monitor the wellbeing of players and staff, working closely with the Pathway Chief Medical Officer to ensure those requiring mental health support are signposted and referred to appropriate services.

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • Essential Qualifications: Post-graduate qualification to PhD or Master level in Psychology or Sport Science, along with British Psychological Society Chartered Status or equivalent.
    • Registration and Experience: Current registration with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) and experience providing psychology support services to pathway athletes and coaches in national teams.
