Leader Education is currently recruiting for a number of 1:1 Behaviour Support Workers for a specialist school in Huddersfield.
This specialist nurture school provides education and support for pupils aged 9 to 16 and have been identified as having Social, Emotional or Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
Pupils range from those who have been excluded from mainstream education to pupils ontime limited turn around placements who are at risk of being excluded from mainstream settings.
Pupils may also have additional SEN needs.The job:
- Providing 1:1 support to students with SEMH needs in an educational setting
- Working in close partnership with SENCO and the designated safeguarding lead to promote positive outcomes and academic progression
- Forming strong relationships with children and young people, and their families, which influence them to regulate their behaviour and emotions
- Helping students in achieving the objectives set out in their Education and Health Care Plan (EHCP), by adopting a nurturing approach
- Ensuring the best quality of education and support for each student.
You:
- Have previous experience in working with children with SEMH needs is advantageous
- Will be patient, nurturing, resilient and empathetic to students' individual needs
- Have the ability to build positive, trusting relationships with the child/children that you work with
- Have a passion for teaching and learning with the ability to make learning enjoyable and fun
- Are a motivated and enthusiastic person with great communication skills
- Will ideally be Team Teach trained but not essential free training is available
- Able to work effectively as part of a team but can also work independently using their own initiative.
