An exciting opportunity has arisen for those with a significant level of public health knowledge, skills and experience to join the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board Public Health team on a permanent basis.

Aneurin Bevan University Health Board covers the geographical area of the Gwent region, which represents around 8% of the landmass in Wales, covering 5 local authorities serving 600,000 people; approximately 19% of the Welsh population.


We are seeking highly motivated people who are passionate about public health and are a team player, with a Master's in Public Health or equivalent worked based experience.


You will be working within one of the teams current priority areas Children and Young People, Tobacco Control, Healthy Weight Healthy Wales (Obesity) etc.

The team operate agile working arrangements at our offices in Newbridge and wider Health Board premises.


This is a great opportunity to develop and influence the public health agenda and tackle inequalities; the post holder will be working with partners across communities and agencies to improve the health of the population of the Gwent Region.


Supporting the work of the Public Health team, the post holder will be working to an agreed set of objectives and will be directly supported by their line manager.


The post holder will have responsibility for leading work across Gwent (Blaenau Gwent, Caerphilly, Monmouthshire, Newport and Torfaen) on projects or programmes in line with agreed local and regional needs and priorities, but with specific focus on the annual buisness plan.


The post holder will have experience of working to reduce health inequalities in a local authority, public health or multi-agency setting, and will play an important role in developing the skills and knowledge of others about health inequalities.


You will work in partnership with a range of local, regional and national organisations to make a significant contribution to equity, health and quality of life of Aneurin Bevan University Health Board (Gwent) residents.


You will contribute to the planning, implementation and evaluation of a range of programmes and services, by providing Public Health support to service improvement work, including health needs assessments, service reviews, pathway development, prioritisation and commissioning of health services.
