Description

Do you fancy a part time job where you will be treated with respect and valued?

It is an early start 7 am but you will be done by 3 pm. Mondays and Thursdays.

16 hours a week at £10.80 an hour.

We are a small, successful, ethical, food manufacturing business making the healthiest and most delicious houmous money can buy.

We are based in Tunley, just outside of Bath.

We have our own brand The Precious Pea and in addition we produce houmous for three upmarket companies.

If you have any special/additional needs but feel that you could do this job please apply, we would be happy to consider you. We are a Disability Confident Employer.

You will probably spend the majority of your time depositing houmous into pots, putting lids and label/sleeves on pots and then when production is over, helping with the cleaning. There is more detail on other aspects of the job below.

You don't need any previous experience, we will train you and the the job is not mentally demanding.

You must be healthy and clean.

You must be willing to follow our exacting kitchen hygiene rules.

You need to be physically strong for some aspects of the work, for example tipping 10 Kg of houmous into the depositor.

You also need to be extremely hardy. It is absolutely freezing in the kitchen in the winter and sometimes boiling in the summer.

You will need your own transport as public transport in this area is sadly lacking.

We are a small team and everyone looks out for everyone else. It is important to us that the person we employ is a team player.

We produce and dispatch on the same day, so some team members start very early with cooking and production, while others start and finish later, they ensure the product is sent out correctly to the different couriers.

We like to eat together. A simple vegetarian meal appears at lunchtime. The consumption of houmous is not compulsory but oddly most people seem to add it regardless.

We are an eclectic bunch but in the main good hearted and well meaning. If you have any additional or special needs, but could still do the job well, don't be put off applying.

Here are some more details on some of the tasks you might be asked to do.

Filling and operation the depositing machine. The filling is heavy work and the potting is exacting as different customers have different weights. There are always at least 3 staff on the production line.

Cleaning. There is lots of cleaning every day. Machines need to be moved every week so additional cleaning can be done, again is quite hard work and it must be done thoroughly for health and safety reasons.

Washing up. There is no end of washing up, during the busy part of the day one member of staff is permanently at the sink.

Making and packing boxes, putting stickers on lids.

Preparing olives, this involves putting them into a mixer and then carefully checking for stones.

Making up the spice mixes for the different houmous flavours. This would be closely supervised till we are absolutely sure you know what you are doing.

Contributing fully and willingly to the multitude of little tasks that see chickpeas arrive by the ton on a pallet - and leave as little pots of delicious houmous.

Rest assured you will never be asked to do anything alone till you are 100% confident. We expect to train you and we expect to support you, till you and we are sure you are competent.

These are some of the attributes we are looking for;
-
Hard working. You will be part of a hard working team so it will work best if you are well motivated yourself.

For those of you who care, our products are 100% Organic certified by the Soil Association, we are SALSA accredited and more recently B Corp accredited.

If you fancy doing a trial shift (paid) get in touch and we will see what we can organise.
