Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic KS2 or KS3 Practitioner in English and/or Mathematics who has a passion for teaching and enabling the progression of students who are working significantly below age related expectations.

We are particularly keen to support those students who also have other barriers to their learning.

Supported by a TA, you will focus on teaching and learning in one small class in year 7 and one in year 8 and will work with the SENDCO and Subject Coordinators to close the gap for students who are not yet able to access their relevant curriculum studies.

The Academy has been awarded. Nurture UK award status and we use these principles to develop the students holistically. Applications from unqualified teachers are welcome.

This is a new and exciting role for the Academy, which supports our development in meeting the needs of our more vulnerable students.

This role would suit an experienced Primary or Secondary teacher who can identify gaps in learning and connect student's previous learning with Secondary expectations.

Teaching will be delivered to students in small groups in a classroom away from their peers and will therefore need to support both their academic and emotional development, to prepare them for reintegration into their year groups in the future.

It is expected that methods such as phonics, reading and basic numeracy teaching, will be appropriate for these target students.

Clear planning, monitoring and assessment will be needed in this initial year, to ensure that evidence can be offered to guarantee continued support of this new provision.

Alongside our Aspergers BASE, the inclusion team at the Academy includes, a Learning Support Centre (for additional academic support) and a Student Support Centre (for behaviour and pastoral support).

These support staff teams offer a wealth of experience and knowledge in meeting the needs of students with additional barriers.

We would like this additional 'bridging the gap' teaching opportunity to enhance our inclusion offer and improve outcomes for students.

Our current team also offers a range of extra-curricular support sessions to ensure students reach their full potential, and if successful, we would hope that you would share this ethic.

Through the Aspirations Learning Institute (ALI) we also offer a range of nationally recognised qualification training opportunities, including NPQ's, Teaching apprenticeships and Level 7 courses.

We also have our Budmouth Wellbeing package and Wellbeing Charter, which is supported by successful programmes in coaching, mentoring and ECT induction.
