About the role


We are looking for a commercially astute Finance Director with a passion for enabling change by leveraging technology, resilience, and the ability to simplify complexity by driving change through an evolving organisation.

The role will report to the GroupChief Information Officer and will represent Finance as a member of the Information & Technology Leadership Team business support for both the transformation and the day to day financial performance of the function.


As Finance Director, you will be responsible for the budgeting/forecasting, reporting and analysis of the Information & Technology function, providing financial business partnering and decision support to the Leadership Team to ensure their strategic andoperational financial goals are delivered.

Key activities include Project accounting, forecasting and budgeting for department spend, commercial management of contracts, and financial analysis & modelling for the Function's initiatives including target operatingmodels, continuous improvement and benefits realisation.


Other responsibilities will include:

  • Partnering with the Leadership Team and their reports to support the future strategic direction of the Function to identify financial and commercial risks and potential mitigations
  • Creation and promotion of robust business cases to support future technology driven transformation initiatives
  • Owning, reviewing and continuing to update the business cases at key intervals of the programmes
  • Construction and presentation of monthly budget/forecasts for current and future years
  • Construction of detailed monthly budget/forecasts by line item, liaising with project and cost centre work stream leads, for current and future years
  • Providing financial insight to enable informed decision making by the Functional Leadership and influencing business focussed outcomes
  • Working with the I&T team to manage project contracts ensuring adherence to terms, compliance on key financial clauses and negotiation of new contract spend
  • Completion of month end and subsequent delivery of highquality monthly management accounts and reporting, including headcount reporting, variance analysis and appropriate commentary

About you

  • Fully qualified accountant with significant experience in a large, international company
  • Previous experience of working with a Technology team and driving a Technology transformation agenda
  • Ability to influence and advise the Leadership Team on financial and commercial matters
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex concepts, risks and strategies to senior management and other stakeholders in business terms
  • Working understanding of accounting and financial reporting guidance applicable to the information and technology environment
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships within the function and across the Group, whilst driving the agenda with reasonable financial challenge
  • Strong Cost control experience and ability to drive accountability
  • Financial investment business case experience
  • Organised, able to prioritise and meet tight deadlines with a strong ability to selfmanage
  • Excellent commercial and business awareness

Our I&T Function is headquartered in Milton Keynes, so commuting distance to Milton Keynes would be preferable
