The successful growth in Commercial has been due to a change in strategic direction to demonstrate importance and relevance in an ever-changing market.

NIG, for instance, has geared up and built upon already strong relationships to provide more solutions for brokers' customers, stepping up to the plate when it was needed the most.

The positive momentum has continued to provide a steady stream of new growth income which has facilitated more diversification in the NIG portfolio.

This has resulted in writing types of business we're not typically known for.


What you'll be doing:


We now have an exciting full-time, permanent opportunity for an experienced E-Trade Product Underwriter to build and adapt the E-Traded Commercial Vehicle product to achieve growth and aid in the delivery of financial targets across all distribution channels.


You will work with your team to manage internal and external stakeholder relationships providing necessary underwriting and e-trade design & build expertise to enable the efficient construction and ongoing maintenance of the Commercial Vehicle product.


This will be a hybrid role and will be based from home with some travel to either our Leeds or Peterborough Office.


What we're looking for:


  • Responsible for the scoping, design, and underwriting specification of Commercial E-Traded Traded Commercial Vehicle products.
  • Assist the Head of Packages and Van Underwriting in design, specification and manage the technical underwriting content of appropriate policy documentation as required.
- 'Championing' Commercial E-Traded Traded Commercial Vehicle Products by working with and building strong relationships with Key Stakeholders, Regional Centres and UK Intermediaries to ensure profitable account growth in line with budget.

  • To work with Pricing & Product Management areas to continually assess and develop the Commercial E-Traded Commercial Vehicle Products ensuring products are Brokers preferred option or market comparable as a minimum standard.
  • Assist Head of Packages & Van Underwriting in ensuring Commercial E-Traded Traded Commercial Vehicle Products are maintained and developed in line with strategic, regulatory, and statutory developments.
  • Ensure expert market and product knowledge of designated product areas including all inputs to underwriting knowledge systems
  • Represent Commercial E-Trading Underwriting at various internal & external meetings and provide management assistance to the regional centres, working together to ensure every profitable business opportunity is maximised.

Key skills you will need:


  • Prior experience working within a Commercial Lines Underwriting environment, including insurance company, underwriting agency or broker.
  • Cert CII Qualified or progressing towards.
  • Articulate, analytical and innovative individual.
  • Experience of working with software houses is preferred but not essential

Salary £45,000 - £60,000 DoE plus pension, bonus and benefits
