Working under the supervision of a clinician and strictly in accordance with policies, procedures, guidelines and protocols.

The healthcare assistant will assist the clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care in line with assessed competency.

In addition to the below there will be a specific focus on the delivery of Annual Health Checks for those with Severe Mental Illness (SMI).


UK Driving Licence is required for this role Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Annual Health Checks for patients with SMI Other NHS Health checks Option to rotate into General Practice Measuring and recording: Blood pressure Pulse rate Height and weight Body mass index Temperature Act as a chaperone Wound care/dressings within sphere of competence Cleaning and de-sanitising and maintenance of equipment Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording Supplies, equipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation including consultation rooms Vaccinations B12, Influenza, Pneumococcal and Shingles Clip/suture removal Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions, including assisting GPs during the performance of procedures Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients health and well-being Undertaking patient specific clinical activities for named patients that have been delegated and taught specifically in relation to that individual patient Raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted Assisting with the collection and collation of data related to health and well-being Any other duties deemed appropriate for the role by the responsible clinician Administration Record information and activities undertaken with patients and clinicians in an accurate and timely fashion using manual or computer systems as appropriate Maintain confidentiality with regards to information relating to patients, relatives, staff and practice.


Other duties Practice in accordance with agreed standards of care and always ensure own actions are consistent with clinical governance systems Alert other team members to issues of quality and risk in the care of patients Understand and follow the Alliance policies and procedures.
