Description

We are seeking an experienced IT Officer to join our award winning charity working to end homelessness one person at a time in East London.


About the role

This role will be responsible for coordinating, planning and leading IT-related services and activities and developing IT related policies and procedures.


The role will also provide technical and administrative support to departments and users in order to ensure that they can make optimum use of the organisation's IT networks, systems, and associated hardware and software.

It will be responsible for promoting digitalisation initiatives across the organisation.


They will have responsibility for managing the IT budget and procurement, overseeing implementation and maintenance of IT systems and technologies that support strategic and digitalisation aspirations.

This role will work with members of all teams across the organisation with a particular emphasis on the Strategic Management Team (SMT).

£ £45000 (pro rata)

Other responsibilities include

  • Manage and coordinate all IT related matters including data, wireless communications, mobile technology, telephony, security, and computer hardware and software.
  • Ensure efficient and effective technology and internet access for all users.
  • Develop, implement and manage appropriate IT policies and procedures.
  • Support development, implementation and functioning of databases.
  • Working with the SMT to coordinate and implement the organisation's IT strategy, including project management.
  • To lead the expansion of the IT Team and network to multi sites as and when required.
  • Manage contracts and service level agreements with all external IT service providers ensuring that they also all include out of office support as part of their provision.
  • Advise on IT needs (IT equipment, networking, connectivity, etc.) and manage procurement of IT assets, ensuring best value for money, longevity and sustainability.
  • Oversee information security and maintain user security through hardware or software installation or through education.
  • Provide direct and timely support to colleagues on trouble shooting problems and provide solutions to queries and issues, taking ownership of user problems and being proactive when dealing with user's issues.
  • Maintain a register of all passwords and security codes related to IT service providers ensuring the appropriate confidentiality and security procedures are complied with.
  • To maintain IT asset register and to ensure that all assets are safe and well protected.
  • Work closely with the external IT service providers and internal departments to ensure the IT systems are wellsuited to meet client needs (employee, volunteer and resident), and that they remain fit for purpose and fit for growth.
  • Research and stay uptodate regarding new IT equipment and digital solutions
  • Manage annual budget and ensure cost effectiveness for the IT Team.
  • Proactively keep all IT equipment in offices and the Resident IT Suite at their optimal levels
  • Regularly check and maintain equipment such as laptops, PCs, scanners, printers, portable displays, projectors to ensure that these are functioning and available to users
  • To maintain an up to date network mapping for the entire organisation
  • In liaison with managed IT service provider install new hardware or software as and when required, and provide instruction in its use
  • Provide IT inductions to new employees and volunteers
  • Assist in documenting and testing all installations or alternations to hardware or software, and to ensure that the inventory is current at all times, and to ensure that all IT documentation is kept up to date at all times
  • To undertake any administration work which may include written correspondence and reports, preparation of statistics, filing, etc.

General

  • To attend meetings internally as and when necessary.
  • To undertake such other duties within the competence of the post holder which may be required from time to time

About you

  • Experience in information technology management
  • Handson experience with computers and networks, cloudbased systems and network installation
  • Experience in developing and managing short
- and long-term projects

  • Experience in rolling out IT infrastructures across various technologies
  • Experience of working with Managers of other departments and being able to manage stakeholder relationships
Skills & knowledge

  • Excellent IT skills including Office 365 and Windows 10 Pro environment
  • Excellent working knowledge of computer systems, security, network and systems administration, databases and data storage systems, and phone systems
  • Good knowledge of information security.
  • Strong communication skills across stakeholder groups
  • Strong critical thinking and decisionmaking skills
  • Excellent project management skills and strong
