About IMPACT Theatre & Outreach Network
We are an innovative disability arts organisation for people with learning disabilities in the West

London area working through performing and creative arts. IMPACT Outreach provides day services and training for adults with learning disabilities through performing and creative arts.
We have sixty service users, performers and artists with learning disabilities attending our arts centre in Perivale regularly. The Outreach Network is a not for profit organisation, which is owned by IMPACT Theatre, a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (no The two organisations work closely together. IMPACT Theatre was a recipient of the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service in 2018.


IMPACT embarks on a variety of themes and projects throughout the year, where performers and artists are facilitated to participate and lead activities.

This includes live productions, workshops, performances, festivals, exhibitions and other events.

For example; during the pandemic, we created an Immersive film about the dangers of plastic in the oceans, featuring artworks, dance, and poetry by our learning-disabled performers and artists.


Charitable Objects
We aim to advance the education of people with learning and other disabilities, in the creative and performing arts.

We also aim to promote equal opportunities for people with learning and other disabilities to enable them to participate in the creative and performing arts.

Overall Objectives:
To plan and teach music classes to adults with learning disabilities, using a variety of methods. To help develop the current Band and Choir, as well as develop other initiatives here at IMPACT. To contribute to the planning and development of events, performances and workshops.


Main duties and responsibilities:


  • To plan and develop termly lesson plans, specialising in music, with an emphasis on developing the skills and abilities of the performers.
  • Support the performers in the use of various musical instruments and technical equipment.
  • Preparing, setting up and clearing away of sessions.
  • Supporting The IMPACT Band in their development.
  • To be responsible for the care and storage of all equipment, reporting to the Technical
Manager.

  • To help promote and market The IMPACT Band both locally and nationally and support the band members in obtaining performances/gigs
  • To act as an advocate for named performers/artists.
  • To support the performers to meet their social, emotional, recreational and other learning needs in accordance with their 'About me Goals' on a termly basis.
  • To use music and percussion as a form of communication, such as call and response.
  • To help develop vocal skills, to improve pitch, tone, range and song delivery.
  • To maintain class registers, schemes of work, performers goals and any other monitoring forms as required.
  • To carry out basic first aid where appropriate after receiving appropriate training
  • To carry out risk assessment of areas, individuals and activities,
  • To implement expectations of adult behaviour and therefore relating to service users as adults, performers and artists with mutual respect.
  • To participate in training and development appropriate to the role including mandatory training.
  • To implement, operate and maintain safe systems of work in accordance with IMPACT's policies, procedures and statements, training and associated risk assessments.
  • To acknowledge own level of responsibility regarding health and safety and protection of vulnerable adults.
  • To contribute to shows, productions, performances, festivals, workshops and events that
IMPACT hold throughout the year.

  • To work with colleagues as a team to develop themes and projects to enhance the curriculum in a cross curricular manner
  • To undertake any other duties reasonably falling within the purview of the post.


The main duties and responsibilities must be carried out whilst allowing the service users to develop their skills and creativity though personal autonomy or self-direction in an adult environment.
