Environment and Sustainability Specialist - What you'll do:

  • Be responsible for the ongoing evolution and improvement of the Company environmental management system in line with our business development, industry best practice, legislative requirements, and corporate learning.
  • Support the QEHS Director in the ongoing development of business environmental and sustainability policies and strategies for the "Green Agenda" in line with business development and socioeconomic direction and play a key role in coordinating the activities of the ESV (Environment and Social Value governance) steering group, influencing Executive decisionmaking in relation to companywide social economic and environmental objectives and commitments.
  • Support Telent to deliver the Science Based Carbon Targets for 2030. You will play a key role in corporate risk management by defining an appropriate assurance regime including any riskbased audit programme across the business, ensuring effective audit and assurance practices, developing and maintaining key performance metrics and reporting and review arrangements to meet corporate and contract obligations.
  • Create strong working relationships with the Business Unit EHS leads and leading a crossfunctional working group, you will provide oversight for the core "Green Agenda" strategies across Telent and form part of the Group QEHS Leadership team to influence and advise on the continual improvement opportunities and development of the business unit processes to support Telent's environmental and sustainability objectives.
  • You will protect the business by ensuring that regular effective reviews of key company environmental risks are carried out and suitable treatment and response plans established, including the evaluation of climate change risks.
  • Develop and improve the Company Environmental Management System in line with industry best practice and legislative requirements to support to the business strategies for performance improvement and sustainability and maintenance of our ISO14001 certification.
  • Coordinating and supporting governance and collaboration through the ESV Steering Group and associate Working Group activities.
  • Act as SME, maintaining knowledge and advising the business on the UK green agenda, sustainable practices, environmental legislation and client requirements for the industries and environments in which Telent operates.
  • Carrying out regular review of key Company Environmental Risks.
  • Delivering company and regulatory reporting obligations (e.g. Monthly and Quarterly performance reports, ESOS, CDP, SECR and the Company Sustainability and Social Value report)
  • Advise on new/future environmental training to support business development needs and compliance with Telent EMS procedures and ensure corporate induction modules remain relevant and agreed awareness programmes are delivered.

Environment and Sustainability Specialist - Key requirements:

  • Experience of providing technical sustainability and environmental advice for business operations
  • Experience in the provision of Corporate Regulatory Reporting (e.g., SECR)
  • Experience of delivering tangible reductions in the impact of equipment and infrastructure on the environment through the stages of product lifecycle, including:
  • Implementation and promotion of a reduction in waste
  • Implementation and promotion of the reuse and recycling of materials
  • Implementation and promotion of a reduction in carbon emissions
  • Use of low carbon resources.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical and reasoning skills.
  • Experience in managing and delivering complex technical and change/improvement projects
  • Appropriate memberships e.g., MIEMA (Essential)
  • ISO14001:2015 Lead Auditor (Desirable)
