Knowledge and experience of quality, risk management and clinical governance processes with an ability to challenge and question clinical practice of all members of the multi-professional team.

Midwife/Nurse Lead involved in change management such as the implementation of a change in practice in response to national or local guidance or the planning and implementation of change in response to user comments/needs.

To support the Corporate Risk team with the implementation of the Patient Safety Incident Framework. Implementation of Clinical Governance including research, audit, and quality improvement.


Ability to analyse and rigorously review all aspects of the governance framework, interpreting information and using knowledge and judgement to provide highly specialist advice to recommend modifications where necessary and produce meaningful reports.

To demonstrate an ability to teach, holding a nationally recognised teaching/training qualification with excellent presentation skills and ability to present data and information in a user-friendly format.

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a wide range of professionals fostering collaboration and a participatory approach.

Excellent organisational and leadership skills.

The ability to work autonomously, prioritising own workload with self-direction and excellent time management skills.

To respond to and achieve challenging deadlines which change rapidly on a daily and weekly basis and requires a substantial degree of flexibility.

Ensuring a thorough knowledge of statutory regulations governing professional bodies. Ensuring knowledge of Safeguarding Children Policies & Procedures.


Managing effective multidisciplinary teamwork Monitoring of agreed standards of care and action planning Acting as a change agent and recognising service needs taking a pro-active role in the development of the services Taking a lead in retention and recruitment of staff relevant to the area.

(As appropriate to the role) Establishing and maintaining evidence-based practice in the clinical environment ensuring processes are in place for the identification, collection, and evaluation of information to support clinical decision making.

Adhering to the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) Code of Conduct and associated guidelines. Maintaining confidentiality in all aspects of care and employment issues.

Acting as a role model at all times. Maintaining relevant professional registration.

Maintaining appropriate records adhering to Trust & Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) guidelines on record keeping Supporting the process in place within the maternity & gynaecology structure to respond in a timely manner to National Recommendations and report back to appropriate Trust Committees any gaps identified in the service provided.

National Recommendations would include NICE, Royal College Guidance & Confidential Enquiries.


Working collaboratively with Managers, Senior Midwives and Nurses, Trust Risk Managers, Trust Solicitor, medical staff, and other Health Professionals to promote safe practice arising from clinical risk issues and claims and achieve the requirements of external organisations.

Ensuring there are robust systems and processes in place within maternity & gynaecology to achieve the Trust Health and Safety objectives and that this remains central to the directorate Excellent T.

If successful this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £41.90.

This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £13.
