Job Summary:

To offer general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.

To facilitate effective communication between patients, members of the primary health care team, secondary care and other associated healthcare agencies.

To undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the practice.


Job Responsibilities:

General office duties/patient services Dealing with patient queries by telephone, in person and electronically in a timely and effective manner in a busy office environment Receiving and making telephone calls as necessary.


Allocated receptionists are identified and given training in additional duties, such as repeat prescription processing and actioning incoming correspondence Premises: The early start receptionists are expected to open and make the necessary preparations to receive patients. The late finish receptionists are expected to ensure that the building is secured towards the end of the day, lights are out and doors are locked.
