The role
Great Minds Together are delighted to announce that we are the Regional Hub for the Northwest for Autism Central.
This is a new programme, co-designed to provide high-quality and accessible autism information, education, and coaching for families, and carers, and co-delivered by autistic people, families, and carers.
Autism Central has been commissioned by NHS England's Workforce, Training and Education Team and is delivered nationally by nine not-for-profit organisations.
Duties of the role
- Provide 1:1 education, training, and support to the parents and carers of autistic people
- Maintain and develop an uptodate knowledge of local service provisions across the region for appropriate signposting and referrals
- Engage with families that are hard to reach/in crisis to ensure that they can access the support that they need
- Provide support and mentorship to Peer Educators working within the service which may include at times, supporting them to deliver group sessions
- Attend and complete Tier 1 and 2 Autism Central training
- Build and maintain positive, trustbased relationships with families and young people/adults, to identify the key issues which are relevant to them
- Contribute towards the protection of individuals from abuse by always adhering to Great Minds Together Child and At-Risk Adults Safeguarding policies
- Ensure confidentiality is maintained and that the Great Minds Together GDPR Policy is always adhered to
- Ensure effective and accurate recording and reporting systems in line with Great Minds Together procedures
- Undertake administrative tasks necessary for the efficient and effective delivery of the key responsibilities in this role
Requirements for the role
Essential:
- Experience of working with and providing support to autistic and neurodivergent individuals and their families
- Experience of safeguarding vulnerable children, young people and/or adults
Desirable:
- Experience of providing mentorship and coaching to staff or volunteers
- Training to the level of a Designated Safeguarding Officer
- Level 3 qualification in a relevant field (e.g. autism, education, health & social care)
