Description
Effectively communicates sensitive/highly sensitive, confidential information concerning patients/clients requiring empathy, persuasion and reassurance. Some may have special needs; patients/clients may be hostile, antagonistic.

Have an awareness of how your verbal and non-verbal communication can be interpreted by others and ensure a professional, yet empathic approach is always maintained.

To assist with the development, evaluation, and audit of this specialist area of practice, and of the service, at a local and national level.


Liaise with GPs, primary health care teams, statutory and voluntary agencies, and all others to advocate the best possible care for the client.

Facilitate and participate in Case Conferences, Lead Professional meetings, network forums and other meetings, giving feedback and liaising with all concerned.

To contribute to the development and implementation of policies, procedures and protocols relevant to nursing, dementia care, mental health and the health and well-being of the client group across Mental Health Services within CTMUHB and wider Health Sector.

Offer specialist advice, support and guidance to others working with clients and to work collaboratively at all times across a range of disciplines and sectors, where appropriate.


To ensure the views of clients are effectively sought and relayed, including the swift response to complaints in line with CTMUHB Policy.

Maintain clinical and non-clinical records as appropriate and required.

To act as a clinical role model to others and contribute to the learning and development of others, including learner nurses, through coaching, mentorship and other evidence-based means.

Develop, deliver, and review induction programmes for staff, and wider staff groups, as part of the Directorate working groups.

Engage in the delivery of education, training and other as appropriate.

Have developed physical skills; ability for manipulation of objects, people; narrow margins for error; manipulation of fine tools, materials Restraint of patients/clients using approved techniques; Have physical dexterity and accuracy.
