This is an exceptional time to be joining the University of Southampton and its busy, Data Centre Infrastructure Management team within the University's IT department, iSolutions.

The Data centre team looks after the business-critical environments that support IT services to the university community.


About the Role
To provide a comprehensive, high quality, value-added and flexible administrative service support to the university data centre management team. This will require admin tasks, auditing process, updating documentation / assisting with booking external support contractors for maintenance visits. The role is mainly campus based and has occasional working from home opportunities.


To support iSolutions data centre team with the operational tasks and assisting with the ongoing refurbishment of IT technical spaces programme.


What you'll do

  • Provide administrative support to the data centre team as required.
  • Auditing physical assets in the data centre and maintaining records.
  • Updating and maintaining team procedure library.
  • Raise purchase orders and place stationery orders via Business World and Banner.
  • Manage and organise events including booking venues, liaising with appropriate key stakeholder groups, managing hospitality and visitor arrangements.
  • Maintain internal databases, directories and data.
  • Manage office supplies (especially orders for PPE/cleaning products) and equipment. Anticipate requirements for inexperienced staff returning to work; including stationery, keys, furniture, telephony, passes.
  • Coordinate the ordering of equipment with faculties & professional services.
  • Work with suppliers to order and create a plan to deploy.
  • Maintain accurate records, as appropriate.
