Pastoral Leader


Salary:
£23,196


Hours of work: 37 hours per week, TTO + 2Weeks


Responsible to:
Director of Inclusion


Post Objective:


To work as part of the pastoral team, overseeing a large group of students ensuring excellent pastoral care enabling students to be ready and equipped to learn.


Specific responsibilities will be to work directly with students to address barriers to learning which include behaviour, attendance and welfare issues.


Duties, responsibilities and key tasks:


  • To provide welcome to your student group each morning, encouraging breakfast, and ensuring uniform and equipment checks are completed.
  • Ensure a consistent approach in maintaining high standards and expectations with regard to standards of behaviour, behaviour for learning and behaviour in and around school which includes appearance, uniform, confiscation of items and the breaking of school rules.
  • Lead year group acts of worship which is an integral part of promoting the academy's ethos and values.
  • Supporting students with peer relationships, dealing with incidents and bullying concerns quickly and promptly.
  • Building and forming excellent relationships with students, parents and families, building trust and creating a strong link between school and home.
  • To have a visible presence around the school, particularly with meet and greet at the start of the school day, after school duty, break & lunch time presence to enable a promotion of good behaviour and to be on hand to support staff with student behaviour.
  • Support with the monitoring of punctuality and attendance, liaising with form tutors, the Attendance Officer, and outside agencies as appropriate. Supporting with 'late gates', truancy sweeps and year detentions.
  • To use the CPOMS effectively, ensuring all safeguarding matters are reported immediately on this platform.
  • Ensuring restorative justice conversations for all students.
  • Support with the effective running of reflection, duty call, detentions and leading AOW's.

Note:

It is expected that all post holders at Magnus Academy take part in training opportunities provided as part of their continued professional development and that any gained time to be taken in lieu.


  • The post holder will also be expected to undertake any other tasks as reasonably required by the Principal, Governors or MAT Directors to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the academy._
