FLEXIBLE SHIFT PATTERNS AVAILABLE FOR 20-35
HOURS PER WEEK
RATE:
£10-11 per hour
DESIRABLE:
Previous care home experience is desirable but not essential
What we are looking for
You're someone that cares for others with experience working in building maintenance. Ideally you have experience in a care home setting, although this is not as essential, as training is provided.
As well as being good at hands-on, practical problem solving, you are happy to use your own initiative as well as working with guidance.
You understand that this may be a workplace for you, but it is home for our residents, so tasks must be actioned quickly and effectively.
Above all, you take pride in your work and understand that you are critical to helping us maintain a safe, comfortable and attractive environment that our residents can be proud of too.
- Able to maintain a consistently high standard of decorative order at the home through successfully planning and executing an ongoing decoration and general maintenance program.
- Able to work on own initiative as well as following instructions.
- Supportive of the Registered Manager and able to account for their time.
- Able to keep up to date maintenance records.
- Comfortable advising management on all matters relating to plant machinery and equipment, including safety, state of repair and the purchase of new equipment.
- Capable of liaising with external contractors on work required beyond the scope of general maintenance.
- Able to ensure the smooth running of all plant machinery and equipment, including all electrical, gas, oil and water installations.
- Carrying out regular checks on boilers and ensure boiler areas are kept clean and safe.
- Expected to carry out and document weekly fire checks e.g. fire alarm test, fire doors and monthly checks e.g. window restrictors, water temperatures, door closers.
- Certain that all equipment and chemicals are handled correctly and are secure in a locked area away from staff and residents.
- Accountable for keeping all tools stowed safely and in good working order.
- Able to carry out all duties safely having regard for the health, safety and welfare of self, staff, residents and other persons within the company.
- Available for emergency callouts.
- Involved in the training / induction of new staff; particularly in fire prevention, use of fire panel, use of electrical equipment, locations of fire exits.
- Proud of our grounds and keep them well maintained, with the assistance of a gardener for certain tasks, making sure all approaches to the home are accessible, neat, tidy and clear of any hazards.
- Good at building positive relationships with our residents and their families.
- A caring and compassionate person, demonstrating true concern for others
- Reliable when it comes to time keeping and time management.
- An effective written and verbal communicator.
- Willing to take training and qualification relevant to the job role.
