Wood Process & Energy is recruiting a HSE Advisor for a client site based in Ellesmere Port for a staff role.
You will be responsible for the provision of timely advice and guidance on all matters pertaining to Health, Safety and the Environment with respect to Legislation, Company Policy and Management System, and Client requirements, thereby ensuring business risks are prevented and mitigated.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
Maintain a suite of EP standard project documents that comply with our corporate standards and allow projects to be set-up consistently across the EP business
Upon contract award, set-up a standard suite of project documents that are specific to the needs of that project, but are based on the agreed suite of standard project documents.
Throughout the project, maintain the accuracy and sufficiency of those documents
Prepare a project audit matrix
Audit the project(s) on a regular basis against the company audit standards (life-saving rules / Task audits / Health audits).
Deliver training using the internally developed awareness programme for key EP risk areas
Share safety bulletins on an ongoing basis with the workforce
Participate in toolbox talks with the workforce
Maintain training records by obtaining and sending any training certs back to the Darlington training coordinator
Be visible in the field. Be available for the workforce. Help create a culture of openness, where all members of the workforce are comfortable to intervene and to report opportunities for improvement
Organise and chair the bi-monthly workforce HSE committee meeting
Attend the monthly business management meeting and prepare the HSE section overview
Report monthly corporate statistics on a timely and accurate basis
Respond to corporate requests as required
Own and deliver the annual HSE improvement plan
Be visible in front of the customer and be an ambassador of safety on behalf of the company
Oversee compliance with HSE procedures in the workshop, the yard area, and the office area in Ellesmere Port.

QUALIFICATIONS

NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent (essential)
Membership of an HSSE-related institute i.e. IOSH, MIIRSM, IEMA etc (essential)
Trained and competent internal auditor (preferred)
RCA - accident/investigation training e.g. 5 why / Helix / Taproot (preferred)
Level 4 or 5 HSE or technical qualification such as NEBOSH, NCRQ or NVQ
Extensive years in a technical role or full-time HSE Role in a relevant industry.
Experience in EPCm Roles
Excellent understanding of CDM requirements including Principal Contractor duties.
Familiarisation with relevant legislation and industry codes and standards.
Good planning and organisational skills
Effective/competent MS Office Suite User
High level of communication skills in both written and spoken format
Personal attributes:
Effective 2-way communicator, comfortable with presentation of HSE material.
Able to build strong working relationships with peers, client and third party stakeholders.

Good communication and team-working skills
Commitment to HSE and in particular safety and assurance and the need to drive down incidents and accidents across the Industry.
