Who are we looking for?

About the role (External):


What does the average day look like?


In this role you will provide data management expertise to internal and external customers and stakeholders with relation to timetable planning data.

You will work with the Business Analyst on multiple projects which require extensive data analysis, defining processes, discovery into technical solutions and how to approach them from a governance perspective.

Supporting and driving external suppliers with identification of data and business requirements and collaboratively working with internal customers to define and agree those approaches considering business change, impact on resources, processes and systems.


You will also develop and implement relevant data management standards designed from the ITTS architecture and help to support and implement an operating model that focuses on strategy and governance, standards, integration and quality.


Exploration of intelligent automation and optimisation so data can influence process and systems change to increase efficiency and productivity of timetabling, setup and maintain automated data processes.

Identify, evaluate and implement services and tools to support data validation and cleansing. Develop and support reporting processes and track and monitor data integrity and data quality using methodologies.


Complex data processing relating to project specific requirements and data mining small to large datasets and producing detailed analysis to draw valid inferences and present them to management.


What essential skills and experiences are required?

  • Knowledge of operational planning and timetable processes
  • Knowledge of Train Planning System (TPS) software and it's industry interfaces
  • Proven communication and analytical skills, with demonstrated ability to present information effectively and appropriately
  • Proven ability to work with industry stakeholders to understand their requirements
  • Interpreting data, analysing results using statistical techniques
  • Developing and implementing data analysis, data collection and other strategies that optimise statistical efficiency and quality
  • Acquiring data from primary or secondary data sources to provide to data hosted databases for analysis and investigation

We would also like, but not essential.

  • Knowledge of the rail industry and its regulatory framework
  • Understanding of railway infrastructure and associated Geography
