Full time (27 hours p/w)

Salary - £23,000 (depending on experience)


Albert Road Surgery is ran by South Tyneside Health Collaboration a federation of South Tyneside GP practices which already runs another practice in the borough.

Currently Albert Road Surgery is a GMS practice with a list size of 3000 with 2 GPs, 1 nurse practitioner, 1 practice nurse, 1 healthcare assistant, a lovely team of management and admin staff with support from PCN staff including pharmacists, MSK & mental health practitioners, social prescribers, podiatrists and cancer care coordinators.

JOB PURPOSE AND SUMMARY


Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.


Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.


KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

  • Welcome patients on arrival in a friendly & courteous manner and monitor the flow of patients during consultations, informing them about changes or delays and dealing with queries as required
Assist patients with online registration, eConsult, self-check in and all relevant online services

To participate in covering Reception and all associated work in regards STEPS and Extended Hours (shared working of some evening, early morning and weekends)

To work in accordance with written protocols

Deal with administrative tasks as requested by clinical staff (eg contacting patients for review following test results, changing appointments etc)

To liaise confidently and professionally with health care professionals and attached staff

Ensure patients are informed about medical students, doctors or other clinical staff in training and ask for consent as required

Promote/register patients with online Patient Access, advise patients of the Electronic Prescribing Service (EPS) and the NHS App

Issuing repeat prescriptions and sending electronically to GP


PERSON SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
GCSE Grade A to C - Essential

Reception or office experience in a busy environment Experience of working with the general public - Essential

Experience of working within a NHS organisation - Desirable

Good computer skills

Experience in using computer programmes such as EMIS Web, ICE, NHS mail

Knowledge of a range of office procedures Ability to handle queries efficiently with diplomacy and tact

Good interpersonal and communication skills to develop and maintain effective working relationships and to exchange information with patients and staff

Experience of working with minimum supervision, within standard operating procedures
