Description

The Lead Sonographer for Maternity Services will be responsible for the coordination of a high-quality obstetric ultrasound service which meets the national standards for the First Trimester Combined Screening (FTCS) Programme, the Fetal Anomaly Screening Programme (FASP), growth surveillance in pregnancy and complex antenatal care.


The post will involve both working clinically as an advanced practice sonographer as well as leading the development of the service through professional role modelling, supporting professional development of the team, coordination of audit and service evaluation and overseeing student and trainee programmes.

The Lead Sonographer will hold responsibility for ensuring that ultrasound machines and associated equipment is fit for purpose and maintained to a high standard.


The Lead Sonographer for Maternity will collaborate closely with fetal medicine, obstetric and midwifery colleagues to ensure seamless delivery of maternity ultrasound services across the multi-disciplinary team.

**Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as 'Priority' and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.
